some updates for the guitars i have.
new to the fold is a music man sub (sport utility bass). was offered for a short while as lower budget versions of the main production models and stopped after eb started losing money making them.
next is a beater guitar i've had for a while, just never got around to posting it. it's a strat copy, probably a squier. the prev owner sanded off the finish, wrapped a flag or something around it, and coated it in plastic. looks and sounds ok.
update a bass i had with better pics to show off its finish. pics by a friend o mine

happy holidays
it's 3am and i've just come back from school working on this robot. today is going to be a really busy day with all the final preparations before leaving on tuesday. our robot barely works and the new one looks grim. we're all tired and will be driving through middle america and the recent random tornado alley straight to michigan. wish us luck.
over the weekend i went to the ernie ball music man open house in the desert. we went to the ernie ball string factory in coachella/indio, just a bit south east of palm springs. awesome times.
sterling ball, the owner of ebmm, treated the forumites of the ebmm forum to great food, great music, great people, great everythings.
we got to meet top session/performing musicians including the like of tony levin, dave la rue, steve lukather, steve morse, jimmy cox, john ferraro, dave magota, the awesome staff of music man (including dudley gimpel, dan mcpherson, scott, aj, beth, aziah, sarah, kevin, brian, chewie, wonderdog [ace attorney] and more), and the list goes on and on. sterling and co treated us all to a special talk about musicians and playing. a lot of very good insight from the people at the top of their leagues. we got a tour of the string factory and offices. we got to fondle limited and one-off instruments. we got a big bag full of party favors, including new ernie ball straps, strings, new ernie ball instrument care stuff, exclusive open house/forum t-shirts, and more. and of course we got to meet each other. it's kinda weird yes cuz we were all regardless of how much time we spent together online, still conventioanlly strangers. but all the forumites were awesome people and it was great to hang with them all. sterling also paid for one night at the hotel we stayed in. how many ways can you say awesome? no. it wasn't awesome. it was aweFULL. -drums- teehee
the big bottom clinic at the factory. starting from the left to the right: john ferraro, top session drummer; jimmy cox, "mr. musician", top session keyboardist; steve morse, guitar god; steve lukather, guitar god; dave marotta, top session bassist; cliff hugo, top session bassist; sterling ball, awesome awesome guy, owner of ebmm, great guitar/bass player; dave la rue, bass god; tony levin, bass god.
one thing from the awesome party favors grab bags was a pack of ernie ball guitar strings. normally on the back eb lists all the endorsed artists using eb strings. but for this particular pack, the forum handles for all the forumites attending were printed. awesome? OSEM!

a friend of mine decided to make free shirts for the attendees and i volunteered to do a logo/design for the shirt. here's what we came up with:

below is the original design i did:
